Description

Business registrations

You can register, re-register and deregister your business in connection with activities requiring a licence in the Commercial Motor Transport Department.

Change of registered office

If you change your place of business within Munich, you must notify the trade licence office of the district administration department. You must immediately submit the licence certificate and the extract to the licensing authority for reissue. A change of management must also be reported to the licensing authority immediately.

in addition, you need a special driving licence for passenger transport (passenger transport licence) to drive a vehicle for excursions. You can apply for this at the driving licence authority in your place of residence.

Non-German nationals

Non-German nationals (especially those from outside the EU) must comply with the legal regulations for foreign nationals when taking up self-employment. You can obtain information from the Foreigners Office.

Reasons for refusal

If you have a criminal record, your financial circumstances are not in order or you do not have a place of business, you may be refused authorisation. This also applies if there are other serious negative findings about you.

Required documents

  • Identity card or passport
  • Proof of professional qualification (e.g. examination certificate from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce)
  • Proof of equity capital (at least 9,000 euros for the first vehicle and 5,000 euros for each additional vehicle)
  • Clearance certificates from the social insurance institutions, the city treasury, the tax office and the professional association for vehicle maintenance, the competent insolvency court
  • Proof of a valid general inspection for the vehicles
  • Proof of an inspection of the vehicles with regard to the requirements of the Ordinance on the Operation of Motor Vehicle Operators in Passenger Transport (BOKraft)
  • Rental agreement or proof of ownership of the business premises
  • for companies: Extract from the commercial register or shareholders' agreement
  • Certificate from the insolvency court (at the local court)
  • List of personnel stating the date of entry into the company and the health insurance company
  • Vehicle list

In the case of legal entities, the above-mentioned clearance certificates and the certificate from the local court must also be submitted by the legal representative and the management.

Authorisation: usually 75 euros (each additional vehicle: usually plus 36 euros)

In addition, there are fees for

  • registering or re-registering the business,
  • the certificate of good conduct
  • information from the central trade register
  • information from the driving aptitude register and
  • information from the enforcement portal of the federal states.

Please note!

If we reject your application or you withdraw it, you will have to pay up to 75 per cent of the authorisation fee.

The passenger transport licence is generally valid for five years, after which it must be renewed.

Commencement of operations of a taxi or hire car company

Have you bought a taxi or hire car company? Then you must commence operations within the period specified in the authorisation notice.

Submit motor vehicle main inspection report

Anyone who operates commercially in occasional transport must submit reports on the annual general inspection of motor vehicles without delay.

Vehicle change taxi or hire car

If you operate a taxi, excursion, holiday destination or hire car company, you must have your vehicles registered in the licence certificate.
