Apply for an outdoor bar area
If you have a catering business, you can apply for a free bar area.
Description
Under certain conditions (such as the approval of the district committee and the local conditions), you can apply for an outdoor bar area for your catering business. Please contact the relevant district inspectorate, who will advise you on the areas in question.
Prerequisites
"Schanigärten" (outdoor bar areas on car parks) can only be approved
- for commercial businesses with a building permit for use as a restaurant
- on roads with a maximum speed limit of 30 kilometres per hour and in 30 km/h zones, provided there is no cycle path between the pavement and the parking area
- on roads with a maximum speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour, provided there is a cycle lane between the parking area and the traffic lane
- outside 5 metres before and after road junctions and crossroads
- outside 5 metres before and after zebra crossings, pedestrian traffic lights, level crossings and bus stops
- in areas not directly in front of a property entrance and exit or on a narrow carriageway, even opposite such a carriageway
- outside the travelling space of rail vehicles
Areas intended for the following uses are not made available as outdoor bar areas: Driveways, fire brigade access zones and escape routes, disabled parking spaces, taxi ranks, loading zones, bicycle parking facilities, car sharing parking spaces, charging spaces for electric cars.
The width of the outdoor bar area is determined by the width of the associated catering establishment. Part of the outdoor bar area must lie within the right-angled extension of the business boundaries if the other requirements are met.

- Plan to scale 1:100 showing the new area or extension applied for
- Photos of the area applied for, showing the local conditions with regard to the parking space and the immediate surroundings
