Water law permit - building in flood areas

A water law permit is required for the erection or extension of structures in an identified and mapped floodplain.

Required documents

Please submit the following application form together with the documents listed on the form in order to obtain authorisation under water law. The information sheet on the flood-adapted design of the construction project must also be submitted.

Duration and costs

Processing time

The processing time is four weeks to three months, depending on the complexity of the case.

Fees and charges

Up to 0.6 per cent of the construction sum, depending on the work involved.

Report tree damage (during construction work)

If trees are damaged without authorisation, owners or polluters can be obliged to restore or plant replacement trees.
