Water law permit - building in flood areas

A water law permit is required for the construction or extension of buildings in floodplains.

Required documents

The application form must be submitted with the documents specified in the form in order to obtain authorisation under water law. If changes are to be made to the site without erecting a structure (building), an authorisation must be applied for.

In addition, the information sheet on the flood-adapted design of the construction project must be submitted for authorisation.

If you operate a heat pump or cooling system and extract or infiltrate groundwater via wells, you will need a permit under water law.

A permit under water law is required for the infiltration of rainwater into the ground in a water protection area.

Water law permit - construction projects in groundwater

If you intervene in the groundwater during a construction project, a permit under water law is required.

If trees are damaged without authorisation, owners or polluters can be obliged to restore or plant replacement trees.
