Taxi or hire car - submit documents later
You have submitted an application in accordance with the Passenger Transport Act, but would like to submit additional documents?
Prerequisites
Application already submitted in accordance with the Passenger Transport Act
- Transfer
- First issue of taxi/ hire car
- New licence
- Change of registered office
- Change of manager / managing director
In addition, driving a taxi requires a special
Driving licence for passenger transport (passenger transport licence)
is required. You can apply for this at the driving licence authority in your place of residence.
Required documents
- Identity card or passport
- Proof of professional qualification (e.g. examination certificate from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce)
- Proof of financial capacity (at least 2250 euros for the first vehicle and 1250 euros for each additional vehicle)
- Clearance certificates from the social insurance institutions, the city or municipal treasury, the tax office, the insolvency court and the professional association for vehicle maintenance
- List of personnel, stating the date of entry into the company and the health insurance company
- Vehicle list
- Rental agreement or proof of ownership of the business premises
- Proof of a parking space for each vehicle applied for (only for hire cars)
- For companies: Extract from the commercial register or shareholders' agreement
- Proof of a valid general inspection for the vehicles
- Proof of an inspection of the vehicles with regard to the requirements of the Ordinance on the Operation of Motor Transport Companies in Passenger Transport (BOKraft)
In the case of legal entities, the above-mentioned clearance certificates and the certificate from the local court must also be submitted by the legal representatives and the operations manager.

information from the driving aptitude register at the Federal Motor Transport Authority
information from the enforcement portal of the federal states
Questions & Answers
You should apply for a new licence approximately three months before your licence for occasional transport under the Passenger Transport Act (PBefG) expires.
Not older than three months at the time of application:
- Clearance certificate from the social insurance institution
- Clearance certificate from the city treasury
- Clearance certificate from the tax office
- Clearance certificate from the insolvency court
- Clearance certificate from the city treasury or municipal treasury
Not older than one year at the time of application:
- Proof of financial capacity
