Description
In Munich, the entire area within the Mittlerer Ring is a so-called low-emission zone. You may only drive within the low-emission zone if your vehicle displays a valid green sticker. The Mittlerer Ring is also part of the low-emission zone: Map of the low-emission zone
The sticker is valid not only for Munich, but for all low-emission zones in Germany. The green sticker is valid only for the vehicle with the registration number stated on the sticker. Vehicles with an ‘E’ registration number have not required an emissions sticker since 1 October 2026.
Important
- The sticker must be affixed to the inside of the windscreen so that it is clearly visible from the outside.
- All cars, buses, motorhomes and lorries wishing to enter the low-emission zone require a sticker.
- Residents, commuters, removal vans, tradespeople and foreign vehicles wishing to enter the low-emission zone also require a sticker.
- Breaches of the sticker requirement will result in a fine of 80 euros.

Requirements
You can only obtain the fine particle sticker from the vehicle registration office as part of a registration or transfer. In all other cases, you can obtain a green environmental badge from all vehicle inspection organisations (such as DEKRA, GTÜ, KÜS or TÜV) and from all garages that are authorised to carry out exhaust emission tests.
