Cultural Education Scholarship

If you would like to develop your conceptual or methodological skills as an actor in cultural education, you can apply for this scholarship.

Course description

cultural education should enable people to participate in cultural life and help shape their own living environment through artistic practice, and Munich already has a long tradition of cultural education and a wide range of programmes. The Cultural Education Scholarship is intended to enable the creators of cultural education projects to further develop their individual work, to think and research outside the box and to take time to deal with overarching issues independently of the project.

The scholarship is intended to support the following projects in particular:

  • Research into socially relevant issues of cultural education in practice, theory and research, such as promoting diversity and inclusion, countering classism, sustainability, stimulating participatory educational processes
  • Dealing with thematic issues in cultural education and further developing their own educational work, for example in the field of international approaches to cultural education, building culture education, democracy education and so on
  • Examining methodological procedures in cultural education, in particular with regard to their own (educational) work, e.g. developing working and educational methods or trialling artistic research
  • Development of quality assurance measures for their own practice, for example through evaluations, supervisions, interviews or the like
  • Participation in extensive further and advanced training, professional exchanges, network meetings and work shadowing in Germany and abroad

The basis is the concept of cultural education for Munich: To the concept at musenkuss-muenchen.de

Funding is not available for concrete project realisation, which means, among other things, no concrete acquisition of participants, rehearsals, workshops, performances, etc. Research and preparatory work for cultural education projects can be carried out as part of the grant, but not their realisation. Please use the regular project funding for this. Likewise, meetings within already funded measures, projects as part of a course of study, projects accompanying lessons, internships or work placements bound by instructions are not eligible for funding. No commercial or charity projects will be funded.

The scholarship is intended for an individual and not for the further development or funding of an organisation. Paid work to realise the scholarship is not supported. if you have the opportunity to gain insights into an organisation/institution as part of your networking or research work or as part of a collegial exchange, this is possible.

The project can be realised in Munich, throughout Germany and abroad.

Yes, you can reapply every two years. You can submit an application that was not funded in previous years, either unchanged or further developed.

No. It is not possible to apply for several calls for proposals at the same time with the same project.

This is not necessary. However, the scope of the project should be clear from the description and the specific steps listed there. Your own working time should also be recognised with the grant.

The mandatory documents must be submitted in German. A "Letter Of Intent" can be enclosed in English. The documents listed under "Optional" can be submitted in English or with an English translation.

Mention your parental or caring responsibilities in your CV. This will enable the jury to categorise breaks in your artistic work appropriately.
