"Public Art Focus Year - Excursions"

The Cultural Department of the City of Munich/Public Art Munich invites you to take part in a public art competition. The aim is to select up to five artistic positions that deal with Munich in a performative way as part of the Public Art Focus Year. These performances/excursions will be realised in public spaces in the city of Munich from May to the end of August 2026 and will be freely accessible to all.

Background

The Public Art Munich Focus Year 2026 puts art in public spaces in Munich centre stage for one year. In temporary art projects, local and international artists will address the question of how we communicate with our environment, how we interact with it and how we ourselves become effective in it. As part of this Public Art Focus Year, up to five excursions, performances and artistic walks through Munich's urban space will be organised. To rediscover public space in peace and quiet as a space in which many things are possible. It doesn't automatically bring people together - but it can. And invites us to broaden our view.
