Counselling on the recognition of professional qualifications

If you have a foreign qualification and live in the Munich region, we can advise you on the options for recognition in Germany.

Description

Our counselling service:

  • We advise you on the professional recognition options
  • We inform you about the responsible recognition centre
  • We provide information on financial assistance for professional recognition
  • We support you with the application process
  • We accompany you through the recognition procedure
  • We explain the notice of recognition to you and show you other ways forward

The Service Centre for the Development of Foreign Qualifications advises you by telephone, e-mail, in person and by video.

Your way to counselling:

  1. Please register online for recognition counselling: Registration for recognition counselling
  2. You will receive an e-mail confirming that your registration has been received.
  3. The recognition counselling service will contact you. Please note that there may be longer waiting times.

The Service Centre for the Development of Foreign Qualifications provides advice on recognition. We are not a recognition authority. The service is aimed at citizens resident in the Munich region. The State Office for Schools is responsible for recognising school-leaving qualifications for training courses.

Prerequisites

for an appointment:

  • Completed foreign professional qualification (studies or training)
  • Residence in Munich and the districts of Munich, Ebersberg, Erding, Freising, Dachau, Fürstenfeldbruck and Starnberg

Questions & Answers

We will endeavour to advise you as quickly as possible.
You can prepare these topics in advance:

Prepare the documents required for a recognition procedure

  • Degree certificate and list of subjects for your qualification
  • Qualified work references

Necessary knowledge of German

  • In pedagogical and medical professions, you need German language skills of at least B2 level
  • We also recommend good German language skills in all other professions.

Financing the costs of professional recognition

  1. If you are registered with the employment agency or job centre:
    Please ask for the costs to be covered.
  2. If you do not receive any money from the employment agency or job centre:
    Find out about funding through the recognition grant.

If you would like to have a school-leaving qualification recognised for an apprenticeship, please contact the State Office for Schools.

If you would like to continue your studies, please contact the relevant college or university directly.

If you would like personal advice on the subject of continuing education, please contact the Municipal Continuing Education Advice Centre.
