Anyone wishing to transport people by taxi for a fee or for business purposes requires a licence. Economic benefits are also regarded as remuneration.

Business registrations You can register, re-register and deregister your business in connection with the activity you have applied for directly with the Commercial Motor Transport Subdivision .Change of registered office You must report a change of registered office within Munich to the District Administration Department. You must immediately submit the licence certificate and the extract to the licensing authority for reissue. A change of manager must also be reported to the licensing authority immediately.

In addition, to drive a taxi, a special
Driving licence for passenger transport (passenger transport licence)
is required. You can apply for this at the driving licence authority in your place of residence.
Required documents
For initial application and new issue:
- Identity card or passport
- Proof of equity capital (at least 2,250 euros for the first vehicle and 1,250 euros for each additional vehicle)
- Clearance certificates from the social insurance institutions, city treasury, tax office and the professional association for vehicle maintenance
- Certificate from the insolvency court (at the local court)
- List of personnel stating the date of entry into the company and the health insurance company
- Vehicle list
Additionally for initial application:
- Proof of professional qualification (e.g. examination certificate from the IHK)
- For companies: Extract from the commercial register or shareholders' agreement
In the case of legal entities, the above-mentioned clearance certificates and the certificate from the local court must also be submitted by the legally authorised representatives and the person in charge of the business.
Further documents requested directly by the trade authority:
- Certificate of good conduct ( consent of the applicant required)
- Extract from the central trade register ( consent of the applicant required)
- Information from the driving aptitude register at the Federal Motor Transport Authority
- Information from the enforcement portal of the federal states
Please note that the clearance certificates, the certificate from the insolvency court, the certificate of good conduct, the extract from the central trade register, the information from the driving aptitude register at the Federal Motor Transport Authority and the information from the enforcement portal of the federal states must not be older than 3 months at the time of application. The reference date for proof of financial standing must not be more than one year old at the time of application.
