Closing ceremony as a kick-off
The closing ceremony of this year's One Young World Summit, which took place from 18-22 September in Montreal, Canada, marked the official start of Munich's preparations to host the One Young World Summit Munich, 2025.
As the closing ceremony coincided with the start of the Oktoberfest in Munich, Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter sent a video greeting to the delegates in Montreal. Kurt Kapp, City Director and Deputy Head of the Department of Labor and Economic Development, took over the baton in Montreal from Ericka Alneus, City Councilor of the City of Montreal.
In his speech, he emphasized that Munich is happy to host the One Young World Community a second time after 2021 and thanked the companies that made this possible with their financial support as partners of the host city. At the end of the closing ceremony, over 2,000 delegates from more than 190 countries celebrated a successful Montreal Summit dancing to the sound of Munich band KYTES.
