Open Call – Residence Program Copenhagen
The programme is aimed at professional curators of the visual arts based in Munich.
Exchange Residency: Munich-Copenhagen
Dates of stay: 1 Febuary to 31 April 2027
AHC /Art Hub Copenhagen, in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich and the Goethe-Institut Dänemark, invites a visual artist from Munich to participate in a three-month artist-in-residence programme at the professional community and cultural meeting place Thoravej 29 in Copenhagen.
The residency in Copenhagen is part of an exchange programme between Munich and Copenhagen, which also offers an artist from Copenhagen a residency at ARTIST IN RESIDENCE MUNICH Villa Waldberta from July 7th to September 29th, 2027.
The residency programme offers the opportunity to build professional contacts within Copenhagen’s art scene and to develop new ideas for the artist’s own practice. The stay may be used for research as well as production. The programme also includes meetings with 1–2 curators and mentors (e.g. visual artists or cultural practitioners from other disciplines). The artist is expected to spend the three months of the residency in Copenhagen, to make use of the studio at Thoravej 29 daily, and to take part and engage in the activities offered for all residency artists.
AHC / Art Hub Copenhagen is an art institution dedicated to facilitating and accelerating artistic development and knowledge production through residencies, research programmes, public events and partnerships. AHC organises residency programmes throughout the year at Thoravej. There are five different workshops and 13 studios available for this purpose.
Thoravej 29 is a community of more than 190 ambitious people from 39 organizations working with art, social innovation, sustainability, democracy, digital innovation, and politics. The building at Thoravej 29 has undergone an extensive transformation designed by architect Søren Pihlmann: from an old brick structure into a platform for new thinking. Thoravej 29 houses workshops, exhibition and project spaces, offices, video- and sound studios, a black box, artists’ studios, a café, and an open stage for a wide range of events.

Possibility of participating in an Open Studio event or another public presentation at AHC
Residents are responsible for their own insurance (overseas health insurance, accident and liability insurance, et cetera)
Application procedure and criteria
The programme is open to visual artists residing within the Munich S-Bahn area. Danish nationals are not eligible to apply.

Selection process
A committee comprising representatives from the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich, AHC /Art Hub Copenhagen, and the Goethe-Institut Dänemark will select one artist.
You will be informed of the decision by End November 2027.
Preparatory online meetings will be held between the artist-in-residence and the contact persons in Copenhagen before arrival.
