Driver's license and driving license

Applying for, changing or losing your driving license: everything you need to know about driving licenses.

Issuing and extending driving licenses

  • Driving licence - initial application

If you want to drive a motor vehicle on public roads, you need a driving licence. This is evidenced by your driving licence.

  • Driving licence at 17

Young people from the age of 17 can obtain a category B and BE driving licence and may then drive with a registered accompanying person until the age of 18.

  • Driving licence - extension

Anyone who already has a driving licence and wants to take a test for additional categories can apply for an extension of their driving licence.

  • Driving licence - new application after withdrawal or waiver

If your driving licence has been revoked or you have voluntarily surrendered it, your driving licence has expired and you must apply for a new one.
