Direct dispatch of identity documents

Course description

With direct mailing, the finished ID document (ID card, passport or eID card) is sent directly to the applicant's main residence by Bundesdruckerei. This service is designed to eliminate the need to collect the document and return to the citizens' office.

Please note that you must be present in person to receive the document. Representation by an authorised person is not possible. You must also provide the delivery service provider Deutsche Post AG with a valid identity document (e.g. ID card, passport, temporary ID card or passport).

Direct delivery is not possible if:

• a passport is applied for using the express procedure.
• A passport and ID card are applied for at the same time.
• Passports are requested for underage children.
• Identity cards are requested for persons who have not yet reached the age of 16.

Prerequisites

• Shipping is carried out by Deutsche Post AG and is only possible to a domestic address (main residence).
• Each document is sent individually.
• If you provide your private e-mail address when submitting your application, you will receive information from Deutsche Post AG about dispatch and delivery.
