Deregister vehicle

If you want to deregister your vehicle, you can take it out of service for a period of up to seven years.

Description

  • You can also deregister a vehicle with a foreign licence plate (it is not possible to reserve a foreign licence plate). To do this, you must bring the same documents as when deregistering a Munich vehicle.
  • It is possible to reserve the existing licence plate for a later re-registration (the same vehicle to the same owner) as a "Verbleibskennzeichen" for 12 months. The fee of 2.60 euros for the reservation will be charged when the licence plate is taken out of service.

Required documents

  • Registration certificate part I (vehicle registration document)
  • if the registration certificate part I is lost: registration certificate part II (vehicle registration document)
  • Licence plates
  • in the event of scrapping: certificate of destruction (you can obtain this from the recycling company that scrapped your vehicle) and the registration certificate Part II
