Munich, Germany's number one tech location

This is a strong signal for Munich as a centre of innovation. In the latest Global Tech Ecosystem Index 2025 by Dealroom.co, Munich was the only German city, and one of only four European metropolitan areas, to be listed among the top 20 global tech ecosystems, ranking 17th!

Munich's ranking among the so-called 'Density Leaders' is particularly impressive: This category evaluates cities that produce a particularly high number of start-ups and technological innovations relative to their size.

Munich is ranked 5th worldwide in this category:

• ahead of tech hubs such as Seattle and Beijing
• in 2nd place across Europe

The study compares more than 280 cities in 69 countries based on factors such as startup growth, venture capital raised, the number of patents and spin-offs from universities, and innovation density.

The result confirms once again: Munich is a top location for future technologies in Europe - with excellent science, strong companies and a highly dynamic innovation ecosystem.
