Description

Anyone wishing to set up a sales stand for daily newspapers or other press products requires a special use permit. This is only possible if the press products on offer have a predominantly editorial content.

You also need a special use permit for the personal distribution of newspapers. This is only granted for

  • regularly published daily newspaper or Sunday newspaper
  • Newspapers published by a non-profit organisation. These must be published in Munich and serve social purposes from production to operation. They must be sold "out of pocket" without a fixed sales facility.

Stand locations:
You cannot obtain a licence to set up a sales stand in the pedestrian areas of the old town.

All other stands in the city area are first decided on by the district committee responsible for the district in question. Only after the district committee has made its decision will you receive written authorisation or rejection from the district inspectorate of the district administration department.

Usually six weeks (depending on the duration of the decision by the district committee)

Fees

Newspaper delivery device (sales stand): 90 euros per device per year
For personal selling or distribution on the move: 10 euros per person per day
When selling or distributing at a stand: 10 euros per day for each square metre or part thereof
