Parking permit for craft businesses
If craft businesses need a vehicle for transport or as a workshop vehicle for their work, they can apply for an exemption permit for parking.
Description
New application
If you are a craft business and need a transport or workshop vehicle for your work, you can apply for an exemption licence. We can enter up to three vehicles in these permits. The same vehicle can be entered on several parking permits. The permit is only valid for the vehicle in which it is displayed when parking.
When using the parking permit, a proof of place of work must be clearly displayed in the vehicle ("Sample proof of place of work", see Links & Downloads).
Re-registration
If your vehicles or licence plates change, you can apply for a transfer of the parking permit for the remaining term
Extension
You should apply for an extension about 6 weeks before your parking licence expires. Again, we require a complete application. Unfortunately, automatic renewal is not possible.
Please note that we will not be able to give you the parking permit even if you come to us in person.
Prerequisites
- The craft business is listed in the Crafts Code (Annex A or B) or the activity is comparable (e.g. maintenance service, installation of large appliances)
- The vehicle must be used as a workshop vehicle or for transporting tools and materials
Required documents
- Business registration, trade licence or entry in the trade register
- Detailed description of activities, if applicable
- For each vehicle: copy of the registration certificate part I (vehicle licence)

Questions & Answers
The reduced fee is only possible if several applications are made at the same time and this reduces the time and effort required for checking. However, if a further permit is subsequently required, a new inspection - at the regular administrative fee - is necessary.
The craftsman parking permit is only valid for parking at the place of work during working hours.
Parking concessions may only be used to transport tools or work materials for the duration of the manual work and only if there is no other parking space available within a reasonable distance.
The parking permit allows you to park your vehicle free of charge in short-term parking zones as well as in restricted no-parking zones, including residents' car parks. Pavement parking is only possible under the condition that a passage width of 1.5 metres remains for pedestrians.
Parking spaces for the severely disabled, fire service access zones and areas with an absolute stopping ban (sign 283 StVO) may not be used under any circumstances. Other road users must not be endangered or significantly hindered.
