School counselling - Realschule, Orientierungsstufe, Gesamtschule

We support and advise you on topics relating to the Realschule, Orientierungsstufe and Gesamtschule and on general questions about your school career.

Description

Realschule

Admission
Admission is generally possible after the 4th year of primary school in the entry class or at a later date as a lateral entry into a higher year group. The latter is normally only possible via an entrance examination.

Graduation
The Realschule ends with the Realschulabschluss after passing the final examination after six years. This can also be taken as an external or external examination.

School problems
If problems arise during the school years, they can usually be dealt with in good time or alternative educational paths can be shown.

Possible solutions:

  • Change to another type of school
  • Early termination of school attendance: regulations on compulsory schooling
  • Final examinations as an external candidate - at secondary school: Qualifying secondary school leaving certificate or intermediate school leaving certificate, at business school, at secondary modern school

Transitions
In addition to starting a vocational training programme, there are also other educational pathways in the vocational or academic field to choose from after secondary school:

  • Transfer to a specialised secondary school after year 10
  • Vocational training
  • Entry into working life
  • Transfer to an introductory class at grammar school

Orientation level and comprehensive school

For many years, the City of Munich has been offering two schools, the Municipal Type-Independent Orientation Level Munich and the Municipal Willy Brandt Comprehensive School, which occupy a special position in the Bavarian school landscape as "schools of a special kind" (Art. 126 BayEUG). What they have in common is that they postpone the decision to attend a secondary school beyond year 4 to a later date.

For example, we can advise you on the following topics by telephone, e-mail or in person:

  • Admission
  • Degrees
  • School problems
  • Transitions

You can also find a lot of information on these topics in our information sheets, which you can find under "Forms & Links".
