Description

If you have submitted your application by post or online, you will receive a confirmation with your individual reference number once it has been recorded in our system.

Please note that it may take a few weeks for your application to be processed. No acknowledgement of receipt can be issued for applications submitted by post.

If you submit your application in person, you will be given your reference number immediately on the spot.

You can use this reference number to track the status of your application online.

Duration and costs

Processing time

The processing time is currently up to 14 weeks from the date your documents are submitted in full. This period also includes the time taken by the Bundesdruckerei to produce the driving licence. For online applications, you will receive a confirmation of receipt and can track the status in your online account. For applications sent by post, you will receive an interim notification with a reference number a few weeks after your application has been received.
