Water law authorisation - service water wells

If you want to use groundwater for industrial water purposes, you need a permit under water law.

Course description

The construction of a service water well must be notified to the Munich Water Management Office at least one month in advance using the form "Bohranzeige Brunnen" (drilling notification for wells) found under "Documents and links".

In addition to the notification, a permit under water law is required for the extraction of groundwater. This must be applied for in good time before the planned start.

The documents are required in digital form and also in paper form in triplicate.

Duration and costs

Processing time

No general information can be provided on the duration of the procedure. The duration depends on the individual case, the fulfilment of all requirements for a permit and the additional processing time for other specialist departments to be involved in the procedure.

Fees and charges

depending on the withdrawal volume, an additional annual water withdrawal fee ("water cent") may be payable
