Official medical assessment - necessity of a spa treatment (aid)

According to the aid regulations, under certain conditions you must have the medical necessity of a spa treatment checked by an official doctor before the start of the treatment.

Description

Under certain conditions, which are listed in detail in the applicable aid regulations, it is necessary to have the medical necessity of a spa treatment checked by an official doctor before commencing the treatment.

The assessment can be carried out in two ways:

  1. By taking a medical history and an examination at the public health department on an examination date set by them

    or
  2. By analysing a questionnaire submitted by the applicant and a medical justification formulated by the treating doctor.

In this case, the public health officer will, if possible, issue the health certificate based on the file. An examination is unnecessary in many cases, but may be necessary if a final assessment is not possible based solely on the documents submitted.

Prerequisites

Processing or appointment allocation can only take place if all documents are available!

Required documents

To register:

  • completed questionnaire
  • completed declaration of consent under data protection law
  • the "Medical justification" form completed in full by the treating doctor, in which the spa and the type of treatment requested must be explicitly stated. The costs for the certificate can be claimed from the subsidy office.
  • Short cover letter with full address, date of birth, telephone or mobile phone number and, if applicable, a time slot that provides information about the applicant's availability.

Questions & Answers

What information does an official medical report contain?

In principle, the same strict confidentiality regulations apply to medical officers as to doctors providing treatment. The official medical reports prepared by the department are limited to a summarised assessment of the examination with close reference to the questions asked in the order. The clients therefore only receive the examination results that they need for their personnel decisions. Everything that goes beyond this (e.g. diagnosis, own and external findings) remains in our records and is subject to medical confidentiality and data protection regulations.
