Loss of or damage to the dog tax tag

If your dog's tax tag has been lost or damaged, you must apply for a replacement tag.

Prerequisites

You will receive a dog tax tag when you register your dog. Your dog must wear the dog licence tag visibly outside your home or property. If you lose the tag or if the tag is badly damaged, you should apply for a replacement immediately.

Required documents

You can submit your application for a new dog tax sticker in person or by post.
If you wish to replace a damaged tag, please bring it with you or enclose it with your application.

Processing time

The new dog tax sticker will be issued to you immediately when you submit your application.
If you apply by post, we will send you the new sticker promptly.

Fees

A new tax stamp costs 5 euros.
A damaged stamp can be replaced free of charge.

If you take in a new dog or move to Munich with a dog, you must register it for dog tax within two weeks.

Exemption from dog tax - dog licence

If your dog has passed the test at a dog school, you can have it exempted from dog tax for the following year.
