Health counselling for refugees

We offer health counselling by specially trained staff in accommodation centres. Our employees come to the accommodation centres for this purpose.

Description

Services during pregnancy and the postpartum period:

  • Family midwives advise you on birth preparation, prevention, hygiene
  • Family midwives advise you on FGM, HIV, hepatitis
  • Links to doctors and maternity clinics

Services after the birth:

  • Family midwives advise you on breastfeeding and nutrition, care, sleeping and the relationship between parents and child
  • Weight control
  • Connection to paediatricians and adolescent doctors

The family midwives will visit you until the end of the child's third month. If you need further help after that, we will refer you to our health and paediatric nurses.

Services for children up to the age of 6:

  • Our health and paediatric nurses will visit you and your child directly in your room and offer consultation hours in the accommodation as well as group training sessions in the accommodation.
  • Connection to paediatricians
  • Child protection and child endangerment

Counselling on health issues such as breastfeeding, nutrition, sleeping, vaccinations, dental health, accident prevention, female genital mutilation.

The paediatric nurse looks after families with infants and children up to the age of 6. If you need help with older children, we will refer you to the health and paediatric nurse.

Services for people from the age of 6:

  • Carers assess your health and social needs
  • Carers advise you on health, medical and integrative topics, on dealing with chronic illnesses and disabilities, on nutrition
  • Carers offer you guidance and support with therapy or taking medication
  • Liaising with doctors and clinics

Residence permit - admission promise from the federal government

If you have been granted admission, the Foreigners Office will issue you with a residence permit.

Residence permit – Opportunity right of residence

Tolerated persons can apply for a residence permit with the right of residence opportunity in order to later fulfil the requirements for a long-term right of residence.

Residence permit – adolescents and young adults

Tolerated persons or holders of the right of residence between the ages of 14 and 26 can receive a residence permit if they have integrated well.

Residence permit – Sustainable integration

Tolerated persons or holders of the right of residence with an opportunity (§ 104c AufenthG) can receive a residence permit if they have integrated sustainably.

Assistance under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act

Asylum seekers who have little or no income receive economic assistance in accordance with the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act (AsylbLG).
