Travel document for stateless persons

If you are stateless, the Foreigners Office can issue you a travel document for stateless persons in individual cases.

Description

In principle, foreign persons must present a valid national passport. Whether a person is stateless must be checked by the foreigners authority in each individual case. The travel document can only be issued for the duration for which the residence title is valid. The travel document is valid for a maximum of three years.

Prerequisites

  • You are registered in Munich
  • You are stateless
  • You have a valid residence permit

Required documents

To apply, use our online application or send us your documents and application by post. After we have checked everything, you will be given an appointment with us. In individual cases, further documents may be required.

  • Adults from 24 years: 60 Euro
  • Persons under 24 years: 38 Euro
  • Children up to 12 years: 14 Euro

If you do not have a passport or passport replacement, the Foreigners Office can issue you with a travel document for foreigners in individual cases.

Residence permit for the asylum procedure

If you have submitted an application for asylum to the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, you will receive a residence permit to carry out the asylum procedure.

Temporary suspension of deportation (tolerated stay)

If you are obliged to leave Germany but cannot be deported, you will receive a certificate of suspension of deportation.

Residence permit - admission promise from the federal government

If you have been granted admission, the Foreigners Office will issue you with a residence permit.

Residence permit - Humanitarian reasons with protection against deportation

If you are banned from deportation under Section 60 (5) or (7) of the Residence Act, the Foreigners Office will issue you with a residence permit.
