Apply for house number allocation

In the event of structural changes, house numbers are assigned ex officio. Additional house numbers can be issued or existing properties renumbered on request.

Course description

House numbers for the entire city area are allocated centrally by the Munich Geodata Service.

New construction or remodelling of a property

If a house number is issued for a building, the officially issued house number belongs to this building. If the building is demolished and rebuilt, the corresponding house number must be reissued for the new building.

The local building commission sends a notification to GeodatenService München about the building permit. The building owner then receives a letter from the GeodataService Munich with a request to state the expected date for the completion of the building shell. House numbers are officially issued by means of a house number notification once the shell of the building has been completed (ground floor).

If the access to a property has changed or if there are further, independent entrances, it is possible to obtain additional house numbers or to have the existing numbering changed.

Issuing a house number

In the event of structural changes to buildings, house numbers are officially

  • reassigned or reissued (if a house number already existed for the previous building). Once planning permission has been granted, it is also possible to agree on the expected house numbering in advance.
  • renumbered if the access route has changed.
  • withdrawn if the house number is no longer required.

On application, additional house numbers can be issued or existing properties can be renumbered.
House numbers are only allocated after a site inspection.
