Burial in the hedge gardens

The "Heckengärten" at the Perlacher Forst cemetery is the first maintenance-free communal burial ground where coffins and urns can be buried together.

Description

The hedgerow gardens at the Perlacher Forst cemetery are characterised by the hedges typical of the cemetery. The layout was created in a very sparsely populated burial ground at Perlacher Forst, where very linear hedge structures subdivided the burial ground. This structure was partially broken up with the hedge gardens. In the resulting small open spaces, adjacent graves were grouped together to form a communal coffin complex.
The special thing about the hedge gardens: for the first time, coffins and urns can be buried together. Previously, communal facilities were only available for urns.
The hedge gardens consist of a perennial area with a name stone for each grave, which also serves as a resting place. Decorative steles and rock pears provide additional structure. The slabs and steles are made of Wachenzell dolomite. The name bearers are six brass plates that are firmly screwed onto a stainless steel frame.
