Assistance in senior living facilities

If you need to move to an assisted living facility for health reasons, the Social Security Office can help you.

Description

Benefit:

  • Assistance with living expenses and basic income support

Beneficiaries:

Persons not in need of care (below care level 2).

Responsibilities:

For residents of the four MÜNCHENSTIFT gGmbH homes Karl-Rudolf-Schulte-Haus, Margarete-von-Siemens-Haus, Münchener Bürgerheim and Mathildenstift as well as residents of retirement homes with full or partial care, the Office for Social Security, Economic Assistance (see contact) is responsible.

Special features:

  • In the case of outpatient assisted living forms, it depends on the contractual arrangements of the respective retirement home.
  • As far as the use of income and assets is concerned, the provisions of social welfare law apply.
  • Own income must be prioritised.
  • Existing assets must also be used to cover the costs, except for a protected asset allowance.

Who can I contact if a relative who is not in need of care has to move into an outpatient care facility for the elderly and the costs incurred cannot be paid from my own resources?

To the Office for Social Security, Economic Assistance. (see contact)


Who can I contact if I need care from level 2?

People in need of care, i.e. people who have been assessed by the Medical Service (MDK) for those with statutory health insurance or by Medicproof for those with private health insurance as having a care level of 2 to 5, can contact the district of Upper Bavaria. The service centre of the district of Upper Bavaria is the first point of contact for questions regarding the granting of care assistance in facilities. Contact: servicestelle@bezirk-oberbayern.de
