Apply for a firearms licence

You require a firearms licence to carry firearms that do not bear the corresponding "PTB" test mark.

  • Reliability: Reliability is checked by the department.
  • Expertise: As a rule, an examination by a state-recognised expertise commission is required as proof of expertise.
  • Need: A need can only exist if you are demonstrably more at risk than the general public.

All documents required in addition to the application form must be submitted in the original and as a photocopy. If the copies have to be made by the authorities, a fee of €0.50 will be charged per copy.

In Bavaria, all minors aged seven and over are allowed to fish with an accompanying person without an additional fishing licence - without having to go through the authorities and incurring costs.
