Social services for the deaf

We advise deaf and hearing-impaired Munich residents and their relatives who use sign language.

Description

The Social Service for the Deaf is a free service provided by the City of Munich. It is the point of contact for deaf and hearing-impaired people who communicate in German sign language. Relatives and people from the professional and social environment as well as social service professionals can also contact the social service. The specialist home care centre also advises people who are hard of hearing, people with cochlear implants and deaf-blind people.

Experienced social pedagogues provide advice and support on various matters. These include, for example

  • personal or economic emergencies
  • Family and partner conflicts
  • Problems with the care and upbringing of children
  • Separation, divorce and custody
  • Housing problems and the threat of homelessness
  • Life crises and psychological stress
  • social problems as a result of old age or illness
  • Dealing and communicating with authorities
  • Violence, endangerment and neglect of children and young people, initiation of protective measures
  • Care, home care and financing of services

You can reach us by e-mail, fax, text message and telephone. Please arrange appointments or a home visit in advance.

Further information can be found in the flyer "Counselling and support for deaf people".

The Social Service for the Deaf is subject to a legal duty of confidentiality.
