Exchange of a foreign driving licence

If you have changed your German driving licence to a foreign one and now live in Germany again, you must exchange your driving licence back.

Description

If you have transferred your German driving licence to a foreign driving licence due to moving abroad and have now moved back to Germany, you may have to exchange your driving licence again in order to be able to continue to prove your driving licence when participating in road traffic.

Prerequisites

  • You previously held a German driving licence (paper or card)
  • You have exchanged your German driving licence abroad for another driving licence
  • You now live in the city of Munich again and would like a German driving licence again
