Register fireworks (pyrotechnics)

Anyone wishing to buy and set off private fireworks for a special occasion (e.g. birthday, anniversary) requires a licence.

Description

Fireworks (category 2 pyrotechnic articles) may only be purchased and set off at the turn of the year without special authorisation. Otherwise the following applies:

  • No sale in the period from 1 January to 28 December.
  • No firing in the period from 2 January to 30 December.

You must submit the application at least eight weeks before the planned fireworks display

As a rule, we only authorise ground fireworks and no high-altitude fireworks(such as rockets, firework batteries).

Prerequisites

  • Fireworks may only be set off on private property (not on public roads) with the consent of the property owner.
  • The person setting off the pyrotechnic articles must be at least 18 years old.
  • No churches, hospitals, animal parks, children's homes or old people's homes may be located in the immediate vicinity.
  • Only category 2 pyrotechnic articles (e.g. ground fireworks such as volcanoes or fountains with a maximum height of 3 metres) may be used.
  • The fireworks display must be organised for a special occasion (e.g. 50th birthday, golden wedding anniversary)

No, unfortunately it is not possible to shorten the application deadline.
