The courses at the Municipal School of Imagination offer a creative afternoon programme for primary school children and children with special needs.

Course description

The Schule der Phantasie offers creative courses and projects for primary and special school children up to 4th grade. Registration is possible via the online form or on the day of school enrolment if the school offers courses.

You can register your child for the courses online from 13 April to 10 May 2026.

Prerequisites

Your child must attend a public primary school or special school (1st to 4th grade) in Munich.

Required documents

Please use our online form to register. You can also apply for a fee reduction or fee waiver.

Please also use our online form to cancel your registration, which can only be cancelled up to and including the day before the start of the course. Please send us the cancellation form no later than one day before the start of the course.

Please note that registration/cancellation is only possible by a parent or legal guardian or an authorised representative.

Fees and charges

The fees for an annual course are 140 euros. There is a sibling discount for children who are on a course at the Schule der Phantasie, provided that the same payer is named for each child. The reduction is 20 per cent according to the age of the children for the second child and 50 per cent from the third child onwards.

Questions & Answers

The Städtische Schule der Phantasie encourages your child’s free and spontaneous creativity. Children are encouraged to express themselves artistically in various ways. The aim is to foster your child’s creativity, their confidence in finding their own solutions, and their overall personality.

The courses are led by course leaders from various creative professions and freelance artists.

We will let you know the date of the first lesson in the email confirming your child’s place on the course.

You must re-register your child at the start of each school year. Please use the relevant online form for this.

The School of Imagination allocates places for the courses in July. If you enrol your child later, they will be placed on the waiting list and may be offered a place at a later date.

Red: The required number of course participants has been reached. There is also already a waiting list. Registration is no longer possible.

Yellow: The required number of course participants has been reached. Registrations are still possible but will be placed on a waiting list.

Green: Based on the current processing status, registrations are possible and a place on the course is likely. However, due to processing times, there is no guarantee of a place.

No traffic light: The course has not yet been processed.

You may only withdraw from the course up to and including the day before the course starts. Please use our online form exclusively for this purpose . Please send us the online withdrawal form, completed online, no later than one day before the course starts.

We will send out acceptance notifications by email between May and July. For places that become available after that, we will send out acceptance notifications between September and the end of November.

If you have not heard from us by then, this means we have been unable to find a suitable place for your child.

In this case, please re-register your child for the next school year.

Valid applications are allocated in the order in which they are received and according to educational criteria, with the aim of forming homogeneous groups.

The application is valid only for the chosen course and the coming school year. Applications are not retained for subsequent school years. If your child does not secure a place on the chosen course, you will have the opportunity to submit a new application next year.
