Funding for charging infrastructure for electric vehicles
If you install a charging station for electric vehicles or an electric pre-installation, you can apply for a subsidy.
You may only commission the installation of a charging station or electrical pre-installation in order to claim the subsidy once you have received the authorisation.
Double funding with federal or state funding programmes is excluded.
Prerequisites
General requirements:
- Supply with green electricity
- Location in the city of Munich on private property (publicly or not publicly accessible)
- A maximum of 50 charging points and 50 pre-installations per calendar year and applicant are subsidised.
- At least one charging station with at least one charging point must be installed in a subsidised project.
Please refer to the funding guidelines for electric mobility in the download area for specific requirements.
Required documents
- You can submit an application in the funding portal.
- The documents required for the proof of utilisation can be found in the funding guidelines. Evidence required by homeowners' associations (WEG) is listed in the "Information sheet for WEG" under "Links & Downloads".
Questions & Answers
Publicly accessible and non-publicly accessible charging infrastructure for charging electric cars is eligible for funding. A distinction is made between the following funding objects:
- Electrical pre-equipment for charging points up to 22 kW
- Charging stations up to 22 kW
- Charging stations with more than 22 kW including electrical pre-equipment.
It is not possible to subsidise exclusively electrical pre-equipment. At least one charging station with one charging point must be applied for and installed per application. Up to ten electrical pre-installations (i.e. for 10 parking spaces) can be subsidised per charging point installed or applied for. One "LIS pre-installation for normal charging point" funding object must be applied for per parking space in order to receive the maximum possible funding. In addition, the charging stations must be applied for and installed as part of 1 subsidised project. Installation outside of the subsidised project is not possible.
No, as a mandatory prerequisite for funding is both the use of green electricity and the location in the city of Munich, only charging stations that are permanently connected to the existing domestic grid can be funded. A connected charging station via a plug connection is not eligible for funding.
The electrical pre-installation includes all work including work on the house connection up to the electrical connection at the charging point's parking space. This includes costs for planning, load management and cabling. Earthworks that are directly related to the charging infrastructure can also be counted towards the cost of pre-installation.
Applications for funding can be submitted by natural and legal persons under public and private law and homeowners' associations.
You can find detailed information on funding for charging infrastructure in condominium associations - such as information on how to submit the correct application, how to deal with common and special property and the required evidence - below under "Links & Downloads" in the "Information sheet for condominium associations".
The application can be submitted online on the City of Munich's funding portal. You can find the link in the "Links & Downloads" section.
The purchase or order of the charging infrastructure may only be made after receipt of the authorisation following the application in the online portal .
Yes, a down payment counts as a concluded purchase contract and is only permitted after receipt of the authorisation following the application on the online portal . A down payment as part of crowdfunding also counts as the start of procurement.
Charging infrastructure is funded at 40 per cent of the net costs. The maximum funding amount depends on the type of charging station.
Electrical pre-installation for charging points up to 22 kW: 1,000 euros per charging point
Charging station up to 22 kW: 500 euros per charging point
Charging station including pre-installation from 22 kW: 10,000 euros per charging point
In the case of charging infrastructure, funding is available for purchase, hire or leasing. The leasing or rental costs are subsidised over 3 years.
In the case of a leasing/rental charging solution in particular, please always also apply for the funding object "LIS pre-equipment for normal charging point" for each normal charging point so that the maximum possible funding can be provided.
Yes, used charging stations are also eligible for funding. An invoice from a dealer is required. Purchases from private individuals are not eligible.
A serial number must be provided for each subsidised item. In the case of cargo bikes and trailers, this is usually engraved directly on the frame or on a sticker. In the case of wallboxes, the serial number can be found either on the test report or on the type plate directly on the wallbox housing, often also under a bar/QR code. In the case of pre-installation, the serial number is the parking space number. A photo or the document showing the serial number is sufficient as proof of the serial number in the funding portal.
A holding period of 36 months is mandatory for each subsidised charging device. The holding period begins with the payment of the subsidised amount.
Subsidised charging facilities must be installed within the city limits of Munich and operated with 100 percent green electricity.
The installation may only take place on private property and in publicly or non-publicly accessible areas.
A maximum of 50 charging points and 50 electrical pre-installations per calendar year and applicant are eligible for funding.
Double funding with federal or state funding programmes is excluded.
Once the funding has been used up, there is no further entitlement to funding.
We recommend always applying forthe respective pre-equipment for each normal charging point so that the maximum possible funding can be achieved. Thefunding object "LIS pre-equipment for normal charging point" always refers to only 1 parking space.
