Passenger transport licence for ambulances

Anyone wishing to drive an ambulance commercially requires a special passenger transport permit in addition to a driving licence.

You can apply for a passenger transport licence in writing. The application form for the written application can be found under "Forms and links".

Note: There is separate information for the licence to drive a taxi or hire car.

Prerequisites

  • You are registered as having your main residence in Munich.
  • You are at least 19 years old.
  • You have a German card driving licence. If you still have an EU card driving licence issued by another EU/EEA member state, you must first exchange it for a German card driving licence. Please also refer to the information under "Applying for an EU/EEA driving licence conversion".
  • If you still have an old driving licence (grey or pink), you must first apply for a card driving licence. Please also refer to the information under "Exchange for a card driving licence"

Required documents

  • Copy of your driving licence
  • Proof that you have a class B (old class 3) driving licence (for at least one year in the last five years)
  • Certificate of vision examination by an ophthalmologist or occupational physician (form available for download)
  • Certificate of a medical fitness examination either by an officially recognised examination centre for driving fitness or by a company/occupational physician
  • Proof of training in "first aid"

Note on the period of validity of certificates:

Not older than one year at the time of application:

  • Examination of health suitability by an officially recognised examination centre for driving suitability or by a company/occupational physician

If the application is not older than two years:

  • Examination of eyesight by an ophthalmologist or occupational physician

Without time limit:

  • Training in "first aid"

To practise medicine as a qualified psychologist or M.Sc. graduate (psychology), you need a licence in accordance with the Heilpraktikergesetz (Heilpraktiker Act).

Heilpraktiker licence in the field of psychotherapy

To practise medicine limited to the field of psychotherapy without a licence, you need a permit in accordance with the Heilpraktikergesetz.

Heilpraktiker licence in the field of podiatry

In order to practise medicine limited to the field of podiatry without a licence, a permit is required in accordance with the Heilpraktikergesetz.
