Licence plate change

If you already have a resident's parking licence, but your vehicle or licence plate number has changed, you can apply for a change of registration for the remaining term of the licence.

Please note that we cannot give you the parking licence directly, even if you visit us in person.

Prerequisites

You already have a currently valid parking permit and are still registered in the licence area.
The desired vehicle is registered to you or is demonstrably used by you on a permanent basis.
Trailers and vehicles that are primarily intended for commercial use due to their design cannot be entered in the resident parking permit.
As a rule, foreign licence plates are not entered in the resident parking permit. If the vehicle is primarily used in Germany, it must generally be registered in Germany.

Required documents

You must upload the following documents for the online application.

Copy of your registration certificate part I (vehicle registration document)
If the vehicle is not registered to you: Confirmation from the vehicle owner that you will be using the vehicle permanently.

Duration & Costs

Processing time

If you submit your application online before 11 a.m., we can process it on the same day. On request, we will send you a written confirmation of your application by e-mail immediately after processing. If you display this clearly legible in the vehicle, it will be tolerated by the monitoring staff for a maximum of one week.

Questions & Answers

If you move to another parking licence area, your existing parking permit will unfortunately expire without replacement. You will have to apply for a new parking permit for the new licence area.
