Display of fireplaces and stoves

If you want to install a fireplace or stove in your house or flat, it must be registered using this form before use.

Description

In the city of Munich, there are rules for new or replaced fireplaces and stoves that heat with wood or other solid materials.

These stoves may only be used if they emit few pollutants and comply with the limit values (see "Munich Fuel Ordinance" or "First Ordinance on the Implementation of the Federal Immission Control Act").

The permitted values are

Carbon monoxide: maximum 1250 mg/m³
Dust: maximum 40 mg/m³

Fireplaces and stoves must be reported to the Department for Climate and Environmental Protection before they are used for the first time.

New or replaced ovens: You must register the system before using it for the first time.

Old stoves (installed before 2015): If you want to continue using an old stove, you must also report this.

Required documents

Documents for the notification of new fireplaces/stoves:

Completed " Form for the operation of a new installation"
Proof of compliance with the above-mentioned limit values ( type test/test bench certificate from the manufacturer)

Documents for the notification of continued operation of old fireplaces/stoves:

Completed " Form for the continued operation of an old system"
Options for proof of compliance with the limit values ( test bench certificate):
1. Proof of compliance with the above-mentioned limit values for dust and carbon monoxide or
2. Proof of installation of a dust filter and proof of compliance with the above-mentioned limit values for dust and carbon monoxide or
3. Proof of installation of a dust filter and proof of a walled-in stove insert within the meaning of Section 4 (5) of the Munich Combustion Protection Ordinance (written confirmation from the authorised district chimney sweep)

Duration & Costs

Processing time

The processing time is one month from receipt of the notification with the relevant evidence.

The requirements for the fireplace/stove are deemed to have been met if you do not receive a response from the Climate and Environmental Protection Department by post or e-mail within one month of receipt of the notification.

There will be no confirmation of the notification if the requirements are met on the basis of the evidence. You can now use your fireplace/stove.

Fees

There are no fees.

A test bench certificate is an official document that confirms that a fireplace or stove fulfils certain legal requirements

What is it used for?

It shows that the appliance has been tested on a test bench.
It confirms that the fireplace or stove complies with the prescribed emission limits (for particulate matter and carbon monoxide).

You can request the test certificate for your fireplace or stove directly from the manufacturer.
