Determination of German citizenship

You can prove your possession or non-possession of German citizenship with a certificate of citizenship or a negative certificate.

Description

As a German citizen, you can apply for a citizenship card to prove your German citizenship. You need a legitimate interest for this to be issued.

If you are a foreigner, you will receive a negative certificate upon application, with which you can prove that you do not have German citizenship.

In the respective applications, you must provide your personal details and enclose the documents or other evidence that can prove your possession or non-possession of German citizenship.
