Promotion of plug-in solar devices (FKG)
If you want to buy a plug-in solar appliance, you can apply for a subsidy.
Course description
Funding is available for the purchase and installation of plug-in photovoltaic power generation devices (including plug-in solar devices, PV balcony modules or plug-and-play systems) up to an output of 800 watts peak (Wp) per residential unit.
The subsidy rate is EUR 0.40 per Wp, up to 800 Wp per residential unit, up to a maximum of 50 per cent of the costs.
Important note
Apply before ordering or purchasing!
After submitting your application, you will receive the message "The measure(s) applied for may be ordered" via the funding portal.
Only then may you purchase the device. If the invoice date is before the application is submitted, the application will be rejected.
Prerequisites
All binding information can be found in the directive. Here are the most important points in brief:
The following applies in the Climate Neutral Buildings (FKG) funding programme:
- Funding is only possible for buildings within the Munich city area.
- The applicant is responsible for the investment costs. This means that all orders, invoices, etc. must be issued to the applicant and paid from their bank account. The funding amount is paid out exclusively to the applicant's bank account.
- The following applies to the application: " Application for funding before purchase or order". An invoice before submitting the application prevents funding!
eligible applicants are
- Private individuals residing in the residential unit in which the device is installed and connected to the home network.
- Building owners who equip their entire apartment block with plug-in solar devices. Find out about the different procedure before applying for funding at fkg.rku@muenchen.de.
- Socially committed initiatives that equip Munich Pass holders with plug-in solar devices. Find out about the different procedure before applying for funding at fkg.rku@muenchen.de.
You can submit the application online in the municipal funding portal.
Required documents
No documents are required when submitting an application.
If the application is to be submitted by an authorised person representing the applicant, the power of attorney form must be submitted.
Once the device has been put into operation, the proof of use must be created in the funding portal and the required documents uploaded to the funding portal.
- Identification document of the applicant
- Invoice(s) for the entire plug-in solar device (including all relevant components/parts: Module(s), inverter, etc.)
- Completed self-declaration form for plug-in solar devices
- For Munich Pass holders: valid Munich Pass
Questions & Answers
Applications are processed in the order in which the expenditure statements are received. Documents are currently reviewed within one month. Please refrain from enquiring about the status of your application. If the review reveals that documents are missing or requirements have not been met, you will be given the opportunity to rectify the situation. In this case, you will receive a notification via the grant portal asking you to upload the necessary supporting documents within a reasonable timeframe.
Once the review of an application has been completed, a grant decision will be issued. The grant funds will be paid out eight to ten weeks after receipt of the grant decision.
Plug-in solar devices (also known as balcony power stations or mini-PV systems) are small photovoltaic systems that convert sunlight into electricity and can be installed by non-professionals.
To do this, simply set up the photovoltaic modules, connect them to the inverter, plug them into the socket, and solar energy can be used for the household straight away.
To install balcony power stations on railings or façades, tenants require the landlord’s permission, whilst flat owners must obtain the consent of the owners’ association.
The operator must submit the registration forms to the grid operator and the market master data register themselves.
Investment costs include the purchase price of the equipment and the costs of installation and mounting.
Depending on the VAT deduction entitlement of the person receiving the grant, either the gross or net costs apply. If VAT is shown on the invoice, it counts towards the eligible costs.
No, we do not require consent from your landlord or the owners’ association.
Once the application has been submitted, the applicant will receive a message via the grant portal stating: ‘The requested measure(s) may be commissioned’.
The device may only be purchased and installed once this message has been received. The device must be put into operation and the documentation (proof of use) uploaded within one year.
It is possible to extend the application period by one year.
Yes, provided the storage unit was purchased together with the balcony power plant, the costs for the storage unit are included in the eligible costs. A maximum of 50 per cent of the eligible costs is funded.
The inverter of a balcony solar system must have a maximum output of 800 watts; this means that the system can feed a maximum of 800 watts into the grid.
The subsidy rate relates to the power output of the modules. A maximum power output of 800 W is eligible for subsidy.
Moving within the Munich city limits is not a problem; the system can be taken with you.
If the system remains in the flat and is sold to the new tenant, the new tenant assumes the obligation to continue operating the system.
Moving out of the city limits is problematic and will result in a pro-rata repayment of the grant. You are obliged to notify us of this!
