If you do at least 80 hours of voluntary work a year, the City of Munich will thank you with a certificate and a voucher booklet.

Description

About the award

The City of Munich thanks committed citizens with the "Munich thanks!" award. The award is continuously monitored by an interdisciplinary working group. This is made up of employees from infrastructure facilities, business, civic engagement organisations and the city administration. Committed individuals can receive the award once per commitment, provided the requirements are met.

Voucher booklet

The award includes a voucher booklet. The voucher booklet gives one person one free entry to various Munich leisure facilities:

  • Jewish Museum Munich
  • Munich City Museum
  • Municipal Gallery in the Lenbachhaus
  • German Museum
  • Hellabrunn Zoo
  • Munich Baths
  • Munich Chamber Theatre
  • Munich Folk Theatre
  • SchauBurg - Theatre of the Youth
  • Munich Adult Education Centre (MVHS)

The booklet also contains vouchers for

  • the City of Munich's leisure centre
  • participation in a guided tour of the town hall and an ascent of the town hall tower,
  • an ascent to the Olympic Tower,
  • an annual fee for the Munich City Library,
  • two MVV travelcards.

Certificate

You will also receive a certificate. In addition to thanking you for your commitment, the certificate also contains your specific activity, associated requirements, competences and qualifications acquired. You can also attach the certificate to job applications: Many companies value skills acquired through voluntary work.

Prerequisites

  • You work at least 80 hours per year in a voluntary position or have committed a total of 200 hours to a project.
  • The commitment takes place in the city of Munich or has an impact on Munich's urban society.

Required documents

As a rule, organisations submit the applications. However, you can also apply for recognition of your commitment as an individual. You will then need the following data to complete the online form:

  • Contact details, contact persons and logo of the organisation
  • Contact details of the person to be honoured
  • Information about the type of voluntary work

Duration & Costs

Processing time

The organisation with which you have volunteered will receive the certificate and voucher booklet around eight to ten weeks after you submit your application. Please note, however, that processing times may be longer due to the high number of applications.
