Reduced fees for municipal daycare centres
If your child attends a municipal day care centre, you can apply for a reduction in day care centre fees under certain conditions.
Description
The daycare centre fee is made up of the attendance fee and the catering fee. Under certain conditions, the catering fee and/or the attendance fee can be reduced. As a rule, you do not have to pay an attendance fee for kindergarten children who attend a municipal daycare centre (for exceptions, see the "Daycare centre fees brochure"). In this case, you do not need to apply for a reduction .
Prerequisites
You can apply for a fee reduction if one of the following conditions applies to you:
- Your annual income is less than 80,000 euros (gross).
You can apply for an income-related reduction in the admission fee for one year (1 September to 31 August). As a rule, the household income of the year before last is used to calculate the reduction. - You receive child benefit for older siblings.
You can apply for a sibling reduction. The attendance fee is reduced for one older sibling. If you have two or more older siblings, the attendance fee is waived completely. - You are currently receiving social benefits.
If a guardian in the household receives unemployment benefit II, social benefit, social assistance, housing benefit, child supplement or asylum seeker benefits, the attendance fee and catering allowance are generally waived on application. - They are in a socio-educational emergency situation.
The attendance fee and catering allowance can be paid in full or in part for one year at the centre. You must apply for this at the district social work office (BSA) in the municipal social centres. - You have a special financial burden and special charges such as loan instalments, maintenance payments or removal costs can be taken into account for the income-related reduction. To do this, submit an informal application for economic youth assistance to the Central Fees Office after receiving your fee notice. Advice on daycare centre costs
- You live in shared accommodation, an MVK facility or a women's refuge.
- You are looking after a foster child and receive foster care allowance from the municipal youth welfare office.
Required documents
- Initial application for new enrolment at the daycare centre:
When you register your child in a day care centre, you can tick the box on the admission form to indicate that you would like a reduction in fees. For a provisional reduction based on your income, please submit a self-assessment of your annual income to the daycare centre in a sealed envelope. You can hand in your proof of income at the time of enrolment or submit it later. - Follow-up application for the new enrolment year:
If your child is already attending a daycare centre, you will receive the application for a fee reduction from your centre. You will find a list of all other required documents in the current online brochure on daycare centre fees. You can either hand in the completed application form and your documents at the daycare centre or send it directly to the Central Fees Office.
