Forest tours
The forest tours organised by the municipal forestry administration invite you to get to know the forest in a playful and interactive way.
Course description
Forest tours and nature experiences for school classes and day-care centres
Children and young people can experience the forest on our forest tours. They offer a great opportunity to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Whether for the first contact with the forest or to deepen previously acquired knowledge - our foresters organise the tour in an age-appropriate way and impart knowledge on various topics.
Topics for your guided tour could be, for example
- Getting to know the forest with all your senses
- Correct behaviour in the forest
- Forest animals
- Native tree species
- Professions in the forest
- Wood utilisation / forestry
- Forest functions
- Forest and water
- Climate change
- Nutrient cycle
We are also happy to consider your individual wishes.

Prerequisites
Are you interested in a guided forest tour? Please send us an e-mail or give us a call. We will find a possible date together.
Please include the following information with your enquiry:
- Your name
- The name of the organisation, including address
- Desired time period for the tour
- Year group / age of the children
- How many groups would like to book a guided tour
Several groups from one organisation are welcome to take up the offer of a forest tour. However, a group should not be larger than 30 children.
Questions & Answers
The duration of the forest tours can be adapted to the respective target group. We usually plan a school tour for around 3 hours. A day care centre tour lasts around 2 hours.
A guided tour is free of charge for schools and day-care centres with a municipal sponsor (City of Munich). For other institutions, the costs are available on request.
Our foresters will meet your class at a pre-arranged meeting point near a municipal forest. From there, you will go into the forest together. The desired topics are worked out at various stations and with practical activities. The framework of the forest tour offers space for questions and your own discoveries. At the end, our foresters will take you back to the meeting point.
Depending on the weather, the forest can sometimes be muddy or wet. We therefore recommend wearing sturdy shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. Don't forget something to drink!
A little rain won't stop us. However, in the event of storm, thunderstorm or heavy rain warnings, we will have to postpone the tour for safety reasons. Our foresters will keep an eye on the weather and inform you in good time.
