Special payment for pupils
Pupils starting school in Munich for the first time or transferring to a secondary school can receive a special payment.
Description
The special payment is a voluntary benefit provided by the City of Munich in addition to the statutory lump sum for school supplies.
This benefit is only paid to pupils who are attending school in Munich for the first time or who are transferring to a secondary school (Mittelschule, Realschule, Gymnasium or Gesamtschule).
Prerequisites
The receipt of benefits for subsistence in accordance with SGB II, SGB XII or the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act (AsylbLG).
Required documents
- A confirmation from the school stating the child's name and which class the child will attend for the first time in the coming school year.
- The completed application for the special payment.
- If the child is receiving citizen's allowance, the current notification from the Munich Job Centre is required.
Questions & Answers
Pupils at Munich schools receive a statutory school supplies allowance of 130 euros at the start of the school year and 65 euros at the start of the second half of the school year.
In addition, the City of Munich grants a special payment of 150 euros when starting school or transferring to a secondary school as a voluntary benefit.
It is intended for the many purchases such as school bags, pencil cases, colouring boxes, workbooks and compasses.
Pupils who receive benefits for living expenses according to SGB II, SGB XII or the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act (AsylbLG), who are starting school in Munich for the first time or who are transferring to a secondary school (Mittelschule, Realschule, Gymnasium or Gesamtschule) receive the special payment.
You can receive the special payment on application at your local
Social welfare centre.
Once all the documents have been submitted, the special payment will be transferred to your account. It can also be paid out in cash on request. Applications can be submitted until 31 October of the current year.
