Sale of firewood

Description

In the municipal woodlands, following consultation with the relevant forester, there are two ways in which you can cut and collect your own firewood.

1. Logs two to four metres long, which are left by the forest track and which you can transport out of the forest yourself using a trailer.
2. Offcuts from tree crowns or felled trees resulting from thinning operations. You cut these yourself in the forest using a chainsaw and transport the wood out of the forest (so-called ‘self-harvesters’ of firewood).

Please note:

If you are using a chainsaw in the municipal forest, you must wear appropriate protective clothing and comply with the generally applicable accident prevention regulations (UVV). In addition, proof of a chainsaw training certificate is required for self-harvesting of firewood.

Possible titles for this certificate include:

• Chainsaw Safety Course,
• Basic Course for Chainsaw Operators,
• Chainsaw Training Course,
• Chainsaw Licence.

The municipal forestry department does not offer chainsaw training courses!

Chainsaw training courses are run by various providers, such as Stihl, the DEKRA Academy, various DIY stores (OBI, Hagebaumarkt, etc.) and various tree nurseries.

It is important that chainsaw owners have learnt how to use a chainsaw correctly on a course and comply with all accident prevention regulations.
