Questions & Answers

Yes.

Six weeks after the risk contact is sufficient for HIV, for other tests it may be a little longer. You will receive further information during a personal consultation.

A rapid test can be carried out twelve weeks after the last risk contact. This so-called diagnostic gap is 12 weeks for the rapid HIV test and 6 weeks for the conventional HIV laboratory test after a risk contact. A reactive HIV rapid test result must be checked by a confirmatory test from venous blood.

The term "rapid" in the HIV rapid test only means that the result is available more quickly after the blood sample is taken than with the conventional laboratory test, but not that you can be tested more quickly for a risk.

Depending on the risk profile: HIV, syphilis, hepatitis A, B, C, chlamydia, gonorrhoea

HIV, syphilis, hepatitis A, B, C tests: approx. 5 working days
Chlamydia and gonorrhoea tests: approx. 10 working days
HIV rapid test: approx. 30 minutes

You can also request the test result by telephone.

No, the entire service, including the counselling and tests, is free of charge.
Exception: HIV rapid test on request (costs 26 euros)

No, you do not have to be sober. Eating and drinking have no influence on the test result.
