Managing guardianship

Assistance: legal representation of underage children in establishing paternity and claiming child maintenance.

Description

Assistance: legal representation of minor children in establishing paternity and claiming child maintenance.

  • Single parents with sole custody and - in the case of joint custody - single parents can apply in writing to the City Youth Welfare Office for a guardianship for their child free of charge.
  • The City Youth Welfare Office legally represents the child in establishing paternity and/or asserting the child's maintenance claims.
  • The guardianship does not restrict parental custody rights.
  • The guardianship can be terminated at any time by written application from the single parent with sole custody.
  • Prerequisite: the child is a minor and is habitually resident in Germany. In addition, the child lives with a single parent or parent with sole custody.
