As the owner of a property, you can enquire whether there is any environmentally relevant information about encumbrances on your property.
Course description
Contaminated sites within the meaning of the Federal Soil Protection Act (BBodSchG) are essentially old landfills and old sites that may pose a risk to human health or groundwater. Former landfills or landfill areas, for example, may be contaminated sites. Contaminated sites are generally former commercial or industrial areas where environmentally hazardous substances were handled. However, explosive ordnance does not fall under the definition of contaminated sites in the BBodSchG. Information on the disposal of explosive ordnance can be found on this page of the Ministry of the Interior.
In addition to the polluters, the affected property owners in particular are also responsible for the damage caused by contaminated sites and the elimination of hazards.
In Bavaria, information on contaminated sites is provided on the basis of the Bavarian Environmental Information Act (BayUIG). It includes all environmentally relevant information that the Department for Climate and Environmental Protection (Contaminated Sites, Demolition) has about a property. The environmentally relevant information may include, for example, the history of use of a property or the extent, type and degree of possible contamination.
Further information on contaminated sites can be found on the pages linked in the "Links and downloads" section.
Prerequisites
Information on contaminated sites and suspected contaminated sites is generally considered personal data and is therefore subject to data protection regulations. Information is therefore normally only provided to property owners and persons authorised by them.
