Bavarian volunteer card

If you have been volunteering for at least 250 hours a year for more than two years, you can receive numerous benefits with the volunteer card.

Description

The Bavarian Volunteer Card offers discounts for state and municipal museums and castles as well as other cultural and leisure facilities. The blue volunteer card is valid for three years, the gold volunteer card is issued for life.

Prerequisites

Blue volunteer card:

  • Commitment of at least 250 hours per year for more than two years or
  • Service as a reservist for two years with at least 40 days of service or
  • Completion of voluntary service (FSJ, FÖJ, BFD) or
  • Participation in disaster control or the rescue service or
  • Possession of a youth leader card
  • Possession of a badge of honour for services in voluntary work or
  • Possession of a service award of the Free State of Bavaria

Golden volunteer card:

  • Commitment of at least 250 hours per year for more than 25 years or
  • Service as a reservist for 25 years with at least 500 days of service or
  • Possession of a badge of honour from the Minister President or
  • Possession of a badge of honour in accordance with the Fire Service and Relief Organisations Badges of Honour Act

Required documents

You can apply for the award for yourself or for other committed people from your organisation or association. You will need the following data to complete the online form:

  • Contact details and contact person of the organisation
  • Contact details of the person involved
  • Details of the voluntary work

Duration & Costs

Processing time

You will receive your volunteer card approximately four to six weeks after submitting your application. However, due to the high number of applications, processing times may be longer in individual cases.

Yes, the duration and number of hours of different honorary posts can be combined. Proof from the organisation or association is required in each case.

No, you can receive the volunteer card throughout Bavaria. However, you must submit the application to the municipality where you are registered.

Yes, you can nominate a committed person and apply for the volunteer card on their behalf. However, you must upload proof of the organisation or association that your friend is involved with.
