Juvenile court assistance

Description

Services:

• Providing advice, support and care to young people and adolescents who have committed offences, as well as their families, before, during and after the investigation or criminal proceedings (staff of the Youth Court Support Service)
• Delivering social skills training courses for young offenders and young adults, as well as victim-offender mediation. (Staff from the Youth Court Support Service’s outpatient programmes)
• The Youth Welfare Office at the Police Headquarters on Ettstraße (detention decision support) provides assistance to young people in pre-trial detention. (Section 72a of the Youth Criminal Justice Act)

Note:

• Youth Court Assistance is one of the statutory duties of the Youth Welfare Office under Sections 52 of SGB VIII and Section 38 of the JGG
• It is integrated into the entire youth court proceedings.
• Participation in the social training course (Section 10(1)(6) of the JGG) or the offender-victim mediation scheme (Sections 45(2) and 47(2), § 10(1)(7)) is ordered by the Youth Court or the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
