Description
Private households and private properties:
Controlling pests in private households and on private property is generally the responsibility of the owner of the house or property. They can either use suitable pesticides themselves or hire a specialist company.
Only if the pests are rats that can transmit infectious diseases should you report this to the authorities. The health department is responsible for these cases. If you report an infestation, you must give your name and a call-back number as well as details of the place and time where and when you observed the pests. The Health Department is also responsible in the event of a pigeon infestation.
Food businesses:
If you have observed an infestation of vermin (e.g. cockroaches, mice or rats) in a food business, please report this to the district inspectorate of the district administration department. They will then take a close look at the problem on site and take appropriate measures.
